Well it's almost that time of year again. Some folks love to get right into the spring cleaning thing. Others, not so much. Here are 10 tips for spring cleaning.
1. Sell stuff
Maybe it's time for a garage sale. Get your unwanted stuff and put it out on the lawn. If you can get a few dollars and recycle some of that stuff, even better.
2. Donate
If there is good stuff that doesn't sell, perhaps you can donate it to a charity.
3. Trash it!
If you sell it or donate it, haul it out. You don't have to put up with it in your garage or basement.
4. Clean, clean, clean
Spring cleaning isn't about your average program of vacuuming and dusting. Move the furniture and clean underneath and behind. Pull back the blinds, clean the windows, and while you're at it, clean the blinds.
5. Scrub something
Some things need a little extra effort. Turn on the self clean on the oven. Clean out the washing machine. Yes, they actually make washing machine cleaner.
6. Organize
Those closets? Really? It's time. You just never know what you might find in there (that you might be able to sell or donate). And, adding a closet organizer allows for more stuff, in a smaller space and still look good.

7. Renew
That chair that didn't sell in the garage sale? perhaps you could paint it or change the fabric? With a little time and effort, you might create a new favourite piece.
8. Plant something
Spring is the time to get your garden growing. Flowers, bulbs, and certain veggies thrive in spring. You can get a head start by starting some of them indoors and moving them outside when it is warm enough.
9. Update something
Perhaps it's time for a fresh coat of paint. Or some new blinds or bed covers.
10. Upgrade something
Maybe it's just time to chuck it all and move. The Spring buying season is upon us, after all. If you are thinking of moving, remember that all the same rules apply for getting your home sale-ready as they do for getting Spring ready. So, basically, you're not going to be able to get around that whole Spring Cleaning thing!
