I'm beginning to think I am a social director. But there is just so much to see and do in Calgary that I can't resist.
Well, I am just a little late to the party with this one, but there is still plenty to see and do before August 5th. The Chinook Country Historical Society is putting on the Historic Calgary Week from July 26th to August 5th and there is lots to see. Who knew?
Since I just learned of this event today, I will simply highlight a few of the attractions coming up and give you the links to download the FULL BROCHURE and a smaller version called the WEEK at a GLANCE. You will need the full brochure to give you the addresses and times of all these event. The ones listed below are just a sample of the events planned.
Thursday, August 1st:
- From 9:30 to 11:00 there is a walk "On the Sunnyside of the Tracks" (yes, it's a walk in Sunnyside).
- Next up from 12:00 to 1:00 is a talk on the restoration of Calgary's Mosquito aircraft (yes, we have one of only 30 remaining) at Central United Church.
- From 2:00 to 3:00 the Firefighters Museum in Inglewood is having an open house.
- 7:00 to 8:00 Loughheed House Garden Tour
Friday, August 2nd
You know what? Why re-invent the wheel? Just download the BROCHURE. It is all there. Re-writing it is just silly. Suffice to say that there every day is chock full of interesting things to do.
And, if history isn't your thing, take in the Inglewood Sunfest on Saturday.
And........if that isn't enough, how about the Calgary International Blues Festival?
Whew!! I'm beat just writing about it. Zzzzzzzzzzz.
