Red Deer — November 18, 2016 - Residential sales reported thro
ugh the MLS® System of the Central Alberta REALTORS® Association numbered 335 units in October 2016. This was almost unchanged on a year-over-year basis, coming in a single sale below October 2015.
On a year-to-date basis home sales numbered 3,425 over the first ten months of 2016. This was a decrease of 14.8 per cent from the same period in 2015.
Sales activity in all of Alberta was up 4.6 per cent from October 2015.
New residential listings on the Association's MLS® System numbered 615 units in October, falling 7.1 per cent from one year ago.
There were 2,968 active residential listings on the Association's MLS® System at the end of October, rising 13.8 per cent from levels at the end of October 2015.
There were 8.9 months of inventory at the end of October 2016, up from 7.8 months reported at the end of October 2015 and above the long-run average for this time of year. The number of months of inventory is the number of months it would take to sell current inventories at the current rate of sales activity.
The dollar value of all home sales in October 2016 was $102.9 million, up 2.8 per cent from October 2015. The dollar volume of all home sales in Alberta, by comparison, was $1.77 billion, up 6.6 per cent on a year-over-year basis.
Sales of all types of properties totalled 353 units in October. This was down 0.8 per cent compared to October 2015. The total value of all property sales amounted to $111.7 million in October, up 1.4 per cent on a year-over-year basis.
