- Buyers will open every drawer and every closet. It’s a good idea to be sure these are neat and tidy too.
- Extension cords running every which way is not a good thing.
- Cheap fixes that look like cheap fixes…well, look like cheap fixes. And they don’t reflect well on the maintenance of the home.
- Buyers will look inside the appliances too.
- A litter box for each cat may be good for the cats, but not for selling.
- Leaving signs of your personal habits (perhaps illegal ones) are not a good idea.
- Yellowed switch plates are another maintenance red flag.
- Old throw rugs are meant to be just that. Thrown away.
- No one cares what the place looked like when you moved in. What matters is how it looks now.
- REALTORS® are less than thrilled that your Aunt Louise is a REALTOR®. If she is that good, why am I here?
And one extra bonus. Buyers will look in the garage. It is strange how many people keep their $50,000 car outside so they can store $200 worth of garbage in the garage.
